I had to vote for the SEC mainly because there so freaking arrogant. The SEC is the best conference ever, the SEC gets screwed over every bowl season because our competition is so much harder than the rest of the countries… blah blah blah. Personally I’m not that impressed with teams from the SEC. Often their teams that are supposed to be so superior to every one else either gets steam rolled by good opponents USC over Arkansas, Cal over Tennessee 06′ or close calls against bad or average teams from “lesser conferences” K-State Aburn.
The worst fans in the country however, would have to be Colorado’s. I mean who else has had to clear an entire section of their student section for bad behavior?

The SEC has the worst fans in regards to the way they treat opposing teams, but they also have the best most devoted fans in every other way.

With the exception of Boise Junior College (The BJC Donks) the WAC has the best fans.

Just take a look at the Big 12 comments…think that will prove far and away who has the worst fans in their conference. I would nominate Colorado for having the worst fans in the NCAA just based off the comments on this web site alone. Then there is all the video on Utube of their behavior at their home games…don’t think anyone has as much documented as they do.
The Alumni associations have a lot to do with policing the conduct of fans at games. I would suggest that there are some schools that the Alumni needs to take more affirmative action and shame their own fans into better behavior.

I have been to many football games…SEC and ACC over the year plus many bowl games. I would have to say the worst fans i encountered were Virginia Tech fans. I caught fans keying my truck and cutting a school flag off of my truck. I had alcohol thrown at me from above the stands and many profanities thrown my way. At the hotel fans verbally were arrogant and throwing profanities my way. I could not figure why there fans were so arrogant when they have the 5th worst bowl record in the NCAA and are terrible vs top 25 teams…for example 2-39 vs top 8 teams. They prop there schedule playing easy non-conference teams year in and year out and always get more hype than they deserve. I was so glad we beat them in the bowl game…because there fans are horrible!!!!!! (rednecks, hillbillies and arrogant for some reason for a school that has no national championships in any sport—plus there football players are thugs! (as you have read the many bad stories about their player over the years).

Actually Rutgers’ fans aren’t off the hook. Don’t forget the yelled ‘F— Navy!’ at guys about to go to Iraq during that lopsided win over Navy this year.
I don’t recall any portion of a fan-base — outside of the racist chants at practically every soccer game in Europe, anywhere in Europe — being worse than that.

The BIG EAST and the whinners and winners the Conference the last 5 years the MOUNTAINEERS
followed by the Pitt fans they are just plain idiots and then the L-Ville and USF are suck I mean stuck tied for third.
Rutgers would have made it everyone in Jersey is an A-hole but 100years of losing tend to mellow one out, even with the recent success.

Thats actually a fair point. Theyre like that little fat kid that always has cheeto fingers yet wants to be an elite athlete. you are 2nd tier at best mtn west. right up there with the hac 10.

I should’ve voted for the SEC having the worst fans, but that would be predictable. The real ‘worst’ of college football fans have to be from the Mountain Goat…um, I mean, Mountain West Conference.
Say what you will about SEC fans, but their teams have traditionally backed it up. The MWC hasn’t won anything and they think they should be in the BCS over the Big East. Too bad they got hoodwinked into signing a TV deal that places their games on a cable channel that nobody can receive! What a bunch of goat loving losers!
